COCKROACHES
Tips to keep Cockroaches away from your home:
There are at least 20 different species of cockroaches in Arizona with 10 of them being native to the state. Though it is true they love clutter and filth, at times they can infest even the most sanitary and well organized home. Most roaches are nocturnal and feed on a variety of plant and animal products.
The American Cockroach, pictured to the left, is the largest and most commonly encountered cockroach in our area. The large 1 1/2- 2 inch long roach is typically reddish-brown in color, with well-developed wings and can fly. While they are often found in Arizona outside in alleys, lawns, decayed trees and plants they can sometimes be found inside but prefer dark, moist areas like kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
German Cockroaches which are routinely found inside homes are much smaller, rarely exceeding 5/8 inch long, are fully winged but rarely fly, can survive around 1 month without food or water and can lead to childhood asthma. Rapid infestations can occur with German Roaches due to its very short developmental period
